Infor CPQ: what it does and how it fits your Infor ERP
Infor CPQ is Infor’s rules-based, visual product configurator and quoting software, run in the cloud and connected to Infor’s ERPs. This guide covers its parts, how rules are modeled, which ERPs it connects to, and what a project involves for a plant that quotes configured products.
What Infor CPQ is
Infor’s documentation defines Infor CPQ as visual, rules-based configurator software in three parts: Infor CPQ Configurator, Infor CPQ Enterprise Quoting, and a Back Office Extension for the ERP connection. It mentions a drawing of the product, generated as it is configured. Infor’s brochure page calls it a rules-driven platform for visual quoting and dynamic pricing, and aims it at sales teams, partners and distributors.
Visual South, an Infor partner, lists the modules a buyer meets: the product configurator, a customer portal, 2D and 3D design automation, and document automation.
Infor runs it in the cloud, on Infor OS and Amazon Web Services, according to Infor’s January 2026 announcement. The public sources reviewed for this guide do not say which product or acquisition Infor CPQ grew from. Renaissance Tech, another partner, says its founders have worked with it since its introduction about a decade ago.
How it fits your Infor ERP
| Infor ERP | What the sources say |
|---|---|
| LN | Infor’s LN documentation calls the CPQ Configurator an interactive configurator integrated with LN, with the manufacturing configuration data stored in LN. |
| M3 | Infor’s M3 documentation carries an Infor CPQ section. |
| CloudSuite Industrial (SyteLine) | Partners describe the integration and publish guides for it, including for SyteLine projects. |
| VISUAL | Partners describe the integration, and one argues Infor CPQ is the better choice for VISUAL Manufacturing users as time runs out for MPC. |
Visual South adds that Infor CPQ passes bills of material and routings to the back-end ERP, Infor’s or another. Infor’s documentation also ties Infor CPQ to Infor CRM.
How rules are modeled
Rules are modeled in a tool called CPQ Design Studio. Visual South says the configurator shows rules graphically, so a modeler sees how they depend on each other. Renaissance Tech says staff with product knowledge and basic technical skills can write the rules, and sells rule writing as a service for teams that would rather not.
On the visual side, Infor describes an intuitive, visual configuration experience, and partners describe 3D views and augmented reality for configured products.
Analyst position and customers
Infor says Gartner named it a Leader in the 2026 Magic Quadrant for CPQ Applications, its third time in a row. Infor names Daikin, Wausau Supply and Riverhead Building Supply among its Infor CPQ customers.
Who it fits
Infor CPQ fits manufacturers and distributors already on an Infor ERP, especially those that sell through dealers: the brochure’s dealer cost and distributor focus point that way. Renaissance Tech lists manufacturers with complex products, dealer networks, companies replacing manual quoting and firms moving into online ordering. Infor’s brochure page publishes no prices.
What a project involves
Renaissance Tech gives a typical implementation of six to twelve months, and sells training, rule writing, enhancements and support alongside the software. Expect an Infor partner on the project: the partners sell the implementation and the rule writing, and their pages rank for the product name.
Ask which of your product families the first phase covers, who writes and maintains the rules in Design Studio, and how the bill of materials and routing reach your ERP without being keyed in.
Where your Excel builder logic goes
If your plant quotes today from an Excel builder, its pieces land in different places in Infor CPQ:
- Rules become rulesets in Design Studio. The sources reviewed describe no import of Excel logic; each rule is modeled again.
- Outputs become ERP data. On LN, the configuration has to produce LN’s bill of materials and routing, so whatever someone keys into the ERP by hand today moves into that mapping.
- Price sheets become Infor CPQ pricing. The configuration returns a list price, a dealer cost and a selling price.
Infor CPQ or an app built from your rules
| Infor CPQ | An app built from your rules | |
|---|---|---|
| Rules | Modeled again in Design Studio | Read from your workbook, with the same results |
| ERP | Built for Infor’s ERPs, with partner integrations | Connected to the ERP you run, Infor or not |
| Strength | Dealer and distributor quoting on an Infor stack | Engineering math, drawings and your own quoting steps |
| Project | Six to twelve months, per one partner | Four weeks for the first product family |
ThriveAI builds the second kind. For one product family, the first stage runs four weeks, from the first call to quotes in daily use. Before those four weeks, the first step is a free map of your Excel builder, with its rules and gaps. Converting an Excel quoting workbook into a web app explains how the app is checked against the workbook’s own results.
Map your builder before an Infor CPQ project
Send Derik the Excel builder your team quotes from. He sends back a free map of the rules Design Studio would have to model again, and the gaps.
